Owner - Stylist

Tawni Attended The House of Michael Beauty Academy in Arizona, while finishing High school, and graduated in 1991 with a Cosmetologist degree.  After graduation she moved to Denver Colorado to attend the Colorado Institute of Art.  While working on her art degree she trained at “The Salon On The Boulevard” under Stacy Fleming and Shane Perryman, and then at the “Oxford Aveda Salon & Spa” (Denver, CO).

Tawni took over the family business in 2002 and is the current owner.  She was born and raised in the salon industry, and brings generations of experience.  Tawni’s passion for the arts shines throughout the salon and in her work.  Hair is like the canvas, and creating unique and rich color is a favorite of hers.

For three years Tawni was a Regional Educator for American Crew.  She taught their advanced men’s haircutting method known as Menswork, and continues to educate the staff at Altered Ego.  She has had the opportunity to work with various celebrities and television personalities; such as Stephanie Sandoval of ABC channel 15’s Sonoran Living, Paul Walker, Bryan Adams, Anna Farris, Mickey Rooney, and producers and directors of films like Dinosaurs and Atlantis.

She excels in hair coloring, corrective coloring, cutting, Up-Do’s, and hair extensions.  She is also hair and makeup for commercials, photography, and special event, and is certified in Micro Pigmentation (permanent cosmetics).

In 2007 Tawni and her husband Chad ventured into yet another local project; Solo Café.
The two businesses are joined together and have manifested an ambiance that is unique, full of warmth, and delivers the local scene Tempe is known for.
